The U.S. Senate voted to approve a $1.7 trillion budget for 2023. This document provides, among other things, $44.9 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The spending portion of the new budget is higher than in 2022, when the figure was $1.52 trillion. Notably, most of the money will go to defense – $858 billion. Accordingly, $722.5 billion is allocated for non-defense spending.
$44.9 billion will go to emergency support for Ukraine, as well as NATO allies. More than $300 million is allocated for “countering Russian influence.”
