Dr. Shafik Sachedina, a dental surgeon since 1975 of Tanzanian origin, qualified from Guy’s dental and medical school,as a dental surgeon at London University, is an entrepreneur that favors the health-sector in his entrepreneurial interests also as a Joint chairman of the Sussex Health Care Company.
He has worked as head of department of Jamati institutions, at the secretariat of His Highness the Aga Khan at Aiglemont [France], where he coordinates the programme and activities of the Ismaili community’s institutions. The doctor also works in incorporating with the Aga khan developments networks programme and institution of the Ismaili communities located in Central Asia.

In effort to keep up the voluntary services of the Ismaili community, Dr. Sachedina’s work with Jamati and Aga Khan institutions is voluntary. Moreover, he is a member of the Institute’s Board of governors, of the Aga Khan Development Network Committee (AKDN). Aiglemont; Chairman at FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance international Co-ordinating Committee; and a Ismaili Leaders’ International Forum member. Inclusive of this, he has worked for two successive terms for the Ismaili Council as their president for the United Kingdom.
He is founder and joint Chairman of the Sussex Health Care group, started in 1985 and is involved and focused in taking care of the elderly as well as those with mental illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease. The care for the elderly as well as acquired neurological disabilities has helped the company to be in existence for the more than 30 years. The company has opened a daycare and outreach service program, under Dr. Shafik’s leadership. Also, they have started programs that are specific to individuals with Autism.
