I am afraid what you say may be true. Companies' PR slogans such as "We embrace diversity", or "We are international" have caused so much cognitive dissonance in my mind that whenever I see slogans like that, I think of companies as liars, and hence bad impression on corporations.
As an American working here in Taiwan, I can tell you that all of my Taiwanese colleagues have a bleak future. I feel that there needs to be revolution, a cultural revolution. But I'm not certain how that cultural revolution can come about without losing some of the unique qualities of Taiwanese society. The collectivism must certainly be difficult to grow up in. The stress that is placed on the younger generation to achieve and achieve and achieve in a society that does not have that much opportunity for its youth.
As an organism, my job is to adapt. I remember an author said this: "Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature's inexorable imperative." I will struggle to adapt, for otherwise I would perish.
Sounds like you need to go to your local temple or go for a walk on one of the Mazu pilgrimmages. If paganism isn't your thing, maybe go hang out at a music festival in Yilan. Maybe just quit and spend a month scooting around the island.

There are a number of "frameworks" on how to "do agile software development", such as Scrum, SAFe, and others, but don't be fooled, those are really products developed for selling "agile transformation" to companies who haven't transitioned from the "waterfall methodology", which used to be dominant.

My personal understanding is that college departments like Liberal Arts and Humanities do not need students to grind as hard as STEM departments do. On the other hand, isn't it reasonable for Arts majors to contact people more frequently rather than to spend time on books only?
As a German, it's funny to me to hear people around the world talk about the impact of the schools name. In Germany the particular university is pretty unimportant. I was participating in an interview process for a new co-worker a few month ago and University was only important as so far as the grades were ok. Most important were the task specific experiences they already had.
In Taiwan, we have credentialism. A college / university degree is a must-have if you want to keep your self-esteem since pretty much everyone has a college / university degree.
I am also a depression patient. In retrospect, I was the kid who studied hard but my parents thought of keeping my scores high as a kind of obligation. They never rewarded me for earning high scores. Now I attend the mental counseling offered by my university from time to time.
You should post video and pictures. Or at least mention which metropolitan area you witnessed this. Otherwise it just sounds like one of hundreds of other poor attempts at spreading F.U.D. about Taiwan's participation in democracy, and international congress.
