1. Just switch to kite surfing and everyone will be happy!

  2. Thinking that my wife's laptop is in my sandbox at work and not having recovery enabled while I decided to have a stroll through the registry. (insert your worst case scenarios here)

  3. Use rentplus a lot since it's close to my place and cheaper than the others. So far I only have good experience. Service is friendly and I never feel like they are just trying to rip you off.

  4. Probably because they’re stuck dealing with the same issues over and over again while having no control over any of it.

  5. Yeah a quick start guide would have been great. The videos and migration links should be summarized. Otherwise, I use the portal mostly, but had to call in to get an admin code to enable my remote desktop. I was about to ask the agent if he was OK.

  6. This is a development environment? I assume you're using Developer Edition, so license cost isn't an issue. We do something similar, but in AWS. Each instance is disposable, so switching between editions is spin up a new instance and throw away the old one. The upside is because each instance is disposable we can turn developers/QA loose to poop all over them. The downside is at any given time you've got lots of instances to manage and track (yay tags for all the things). Ideally I would think you want the development environment to mirror production where it's important. If your production environment looks like a small number of very specific SQL environments then dev should too. If production is tons of different SQL environments then the development environment should look like that too.

  7. this is a good point too. The actual DB dev occurs on a separate network entirely.

  8. Huge pet peeve of mine when people use the term architecture and engineering when it comes to software development. It takes away from the credibility of our field and I view it as a form of stolen valor for fields that have credentials associated with a position.

  9. Please elaborate. I love those series.

  10. No worries. In the movie everyone was scared of not sucking up to the party bigwigs. there was one scene where they didn't want to call someone since he was some party bigwig. Also I remember no one wanted to push back on the high energy test out of party reprisals from other party bigwigs.

  11. OK Regina George. My local breaks aren't like a high school quad.

  12. I do agree, fuck pretentious rich mofos. There is a guy who bought a few million dollar townhome across from a break and he acts like he owns the place.

  13. Ah, this is exactly the type of information I like. Thanks again!

  14. Vinohrady is a hipster area like Karlín. Lots of cafes and more kid friendly options. You also have better access to the city center with Underground and Tram/bus options. There are also a few nice parks in that neighborhood. But, since it is a trendy neighborhood, it is not as quiet. Have a great visit!

  15. I just made a generic email template for telling everyone that complains that it's "mandated by cyber security insurance" and leave it at that.

  16. Emergency or not, I wouldnt pick up, unless I previously agreed to be available at that time. As far anyone is concerned, I am working on having a great reply to "how was your weekend?" by trying to surf on a remote island with no phone reception and I will be back at work at 9am on a Monday to deal with whatever issue is happening.

  17. I ignored the text and checked the support queue when I got in on Monday. He actually did call the help desk, who returned his call first thing Monday morning.

  18. "silver fur express" refers to the mobs of cougars on their way to apres ski

  19. First time decommissioning an on-prem exchange, thought I was deleting mailbox, I deleted all the Users in the AD.

  20. I have to decom an onprem exchange server like yesterday. I have double checked that the mailboxes and public folders are linked to the new database 2x and even shut down the old server for a day (I booted it back up since somehow and end user saved his shortcut to the actual FQDN and not the alias) and now I am too freaked out to decom it again. Thanks!

  21. Slater did the same thing somewhere where he rode to the beach, jumped off, and fell on his face. That clip my friend is the GOAT of all KS clips.

  22. I posted a link to a story about someone almost drowning and knowing your limits and someone tagged my post r gatekeeping. How do you exactly gatekeep the ocean?

  23. They have shapers in chino? I get rent is expensive, but chino is far.

  24. You would be surprised who shows up from Chino and Riverside on the weekends.

  25. Definitely too old to be a boomer. More likely the silent generation. Wish she would have stayed silent.

  26. Diky Moc! the austro-hungarian empire bureaucracy was good for something! Amazing what clever "Cechs" can do! but what is not to love about Moravia? Wine cellars, and pear or plum brandy! As well as the traditional Cert costumes.
